While the world and its favourite DJ groove to a clumsy mish-mash of an old Sangeeta Bijalani number from Tridev, it comes to light that neither Bijalani nor Viju Shah, who composed ‘Oye Oye... Gajar ne kiya hai ishaara’, was consulted by the makers of Azhar before using their song.

Says a source, “Forget about the song, the Azhar makers haven’t consulted Sangeeta even before using her name and visuals of her movie.”

The source says Sangeeta herself is partly responsible for this shocking turn of events as the Azharuddin biopic makes broad references to her life and marriage with the cricketer.

“The makers did try to approach her, but she made it very clear she had nothing to do with the project. But does that give them the right to proceed in any way they want?” the source asks. The remix is just one among many issues. “Nargis Fakhri, who plays Sangeeta, looks nothing like her. She doesn’t even speak her own lines,” the source says. Apparently, Sangeeta will take action against the way she is portrayed if she finds it in a poor light.
